Delivery and Shipping
Our standard delivery charge is £5.99, including VAT.
We offer FREE delivery for all orders over £60.00 delivered within the UK mainland, excluding the Scottish Highlands. We aim to dispatch all orders for stock items received before noon Monday to Friday on the same working day. Order received after noon, and weekend and Bank Holiday orders, are sent out the next working day.
Shipments to the Scottish Highlands will carry a surcharge. We will only charge you the extra charged to us by our courier, and will give you the option to cancel if you do not agree to this.
On the day of dispatch orders are sent out on a next working day carrier service, although delivery to Scotland can take a day or two longer.
Orders up to 5kg and not containing flammable solvents may be sent via Royal Mail on a tracked service.
We stongly advise customers not to engage contractors, or start work on their project, until their order has been received and checked. We will not be held liable for any costs incurred due to late or damaged deliveries. Once orders have left us we are in the hands of the courier, and, very rarely, items do get lost or damaged.
If your order is really urgent please contact us and we will do everything we can to help.
We will send you an automatic email acknowledging your order when the order is placed.
Deliveries take place Monday to Friday, excluding Bank Holidays. Unfortunately we cannot specify an exact delivery date or time. We use a ‘signed for’ service, although the courier may take a picture and ask for a name instead.
A VAT invoice will be included with every order, and we will send you an order confirmation email, but if you need any more information please just let us know by email at admin@multicolour.co.uk.
UK offshore Islands and Northern Ireland. Please contact us to check if we can deliver, and what the costs will be. Carriers may refuse to take flammable goods or solvents by sea or air. If we can deliver we will only add on the extra costs to us.
We do not ship internationally, sorry.
Our most cost-effective, high quality oil for exterior use on softwood decking and all large areas of softwood, including cedar cladding, fences, sheds etc.
Bestwood Decking Oil is specially developed for use on softwood decking, to give superior weather protection and outstanding value for money.
Our Decking Oil penetrates deep into wood, lining the tiny capillaries and replacing natural oils to protect from within, and help prevent water ingress, but it still allows the wood to 'breathe'.
It has the following benefits:
Dries clear, with a matt wet look.
Keeps wood supple.
Prolongs maintenance life and protects colour.
Will not, flake peel or blister.
Easy to apply.
Adds protection against algae and fungi.
Dirt resistant.
Greatly reduces warping and splitting.
Adds UV protection.
Can be brushed sprayed or dipped.
Works with pine, cedar, larch etc. Important: Decking Oil is made to penetrate into the wood, and is not suitable for wood that has already been sealed with paint or other coatings, or hardwood that is high in tannins or resin. Please note: Bestwood Decking Oil is not designed for use with high tannin or very resinous hardwoods, like oak, teak, iroko etc. For these woods we would recommend Bestwood Danish Oil or Bestwood Teak Wood Oil. Bestwood Decking Oil should not be used on previously painted waxed varnished or sealed wood, as it is made to penetrate deep into the wood and protect from within. Any existing coatings should be removed before applying Decking Oil and a trial area should be applied.
Surface preparation
Bestwood Decking Oil will enhance the existing colour of the wood. For best results aged and grey timber should be cleaned, and sanded if necessary, back to 'bright' wood. All dirt, algae, mould etc should be removed using Bestwood decking cleaner. New decking can sometimes 'repel' oils due to the nature of the preservative treatments that is often used, especially if the wood is saturated with water based preservative, or it has not fully dried out. We would recommend applying a small test area to make sure the oil penetrates to do its job, If the oil appears to sit or float on the surface with the first coat, it may be that the wood is damp or saturated and needs to be left to fully dry out before oiling.
Application.
Apply a full even coat by brush, roller or spray. Leave for 30-40 minutes to allow the oil to penetrate, then reapply additional coats as necessary. The wood is sealed once the oil stops soaking in. Remove any oil from the surface of the wood with a lint-free cloth, eg t-shirt material and leave overnight to dry. Reapplication is recommended every 3-4 years, but some users like to re-oil once a year, and that's fine. Cleaning the wood every year will keep your decking in tip-top condition. Please remember that oil and water don't mix! Do not apply when the wood is damp or wet, or when frost, condensation or rain are likely within 48 hours of application. Bestwood Decking Oil will restore the colour of the wood, please test on an inconspicuous area to make sure you get the results you want. A wet surface will give an idea of the depth of colour that oiling will give
Coverage:
Coverage will vary depending on the type of timber, its profile, dryness etc. Typical coverage is approximately 5 square metres per litre.
